DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
California State University, Los Angeles, invites applications for the above Administrator II position.
The University: California State University, Los Angeles, under the leadership of President, William A. Covino, is one of 23 campuses of the California State University system. Founded in 1947, the University is in the city of Los Angeles, adjacent to the San Gabriel Valley, and has more than 22,000 students who reflect the rich ethnic diversity of the area.
The Position: Reporting to the Associate Vice President for University Advancement, the Director of Development is responsible for comprehensive fundraising for college based projects and initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with the Associate Vice President for Development, Deans, Advancement colleagues, and other campus leaders to support the Colleges fundraising priorities; work with the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations to establish relationships with area and industry employers, corporations, and foundations in pursuit of funding opportunities; work with the Dean of the college, faculty, and staff to identify funding priorities and identify potential sources of support; will identify, cultivate and solicit individuals for support of college and University programs and services; conduct appropriate donor recognition and stewardship activities; prepare fundraising materials and proposals for presentations to potential donors; prepare and implement an annual development plan which encompasses colleges’ fundraising goals and priorities; utilize a computerized database system to manage prospects, donor contracts and gifts in accordance with the University Advancement office requirements and Development Policies and Procedures.
Required Qualifications and Experience: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three to five years of experience in front line fundraising, with a proven track record. Incumbent must have a valid California Driver License. Incumbent must have strong interpersonal, strategic thinking, communication and writing skills. Must have working knowledge of computer systems such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access). Incumbent must have the ability to interact with all levels of the organization; and an ability and/or interest in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
Desired Qualifications: Advanced degree, working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge database system.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.
Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
This position is a “designated position” in the California State University’s Conflict of Interest Code. The successful candidate accepting this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.
